SOME / ANY

SOME  is used in a positive sentence

 

              I have got some nice books.

              She has got two bikes.

 

 

ANY is used in a question and in a negative sentence

​

 

              Has he got any sisters?

              No he hasn’t got any sisters.

 

             Can you buy any nice jeans here?

             No, I can’t buy any nice jeans here.

 

EXCEPTION:

 

When you ask a question and you know the answer is YES you use SOME 

 

            Can you pass me some sugar please?

            Can I have some milk please?

 

When a sentence starts with Can you give me you always use SOME

 

           Can you give me some money, please?
