UNIT 1 – LESSON 1: SCHOOL

   A FRESH START

Today is our first day of school. We have to start at 8.25 and that is really early after this long holiday. It is not nice to go to school again, but it is nice to see your friends, isn’t it? Today we are going to meet our new tutor and she is going to tell us everything about the coming year.

I am very happy to be in the same class. It’s nice to be around the same pupils as last year, because we know each other well. All my friends are in this class. It is not the first time that I see them after the holidays, I saw them last week as well. We all went to David’s house and watched a movie. We downloaded ‘The Maze Runner’ and it was the best film ever.

We talked about our new schedule which we got by mail last week, so we already know that  we’ve got a few new teachers this year. We didn’t recognize some of their names, so they must be new. We are very satisfied with a new teacher for Maths, but when we saw that we have a new teacher for Geography we were disappointed. We liked last year’s teacher a lot. Let’s hope that our new teacher is as nice as the old one.

Our new tutor is Miss Sanders. She didn’t teach us last year, so we don’t know what she’s like. My older brother knows her and he said that she’s quite OK. We looked at her picture and we hope that she’s as nice as she looks. She is younger than our previous tutor and she’s more beautiful. That is not too difficult because Mr. Jones was old and bald. :D

We also know that we’ve got a new classmate who is from Denmark. She is learning to speak Dutch, but she is probably better at English than we are because she’s got an English father. I know that because she lives next to me. They moved in two weeks ago and we went over to their house to say hello. She’s a little older than we are, but she is going to be in our class because she still has to learn Dutch.

Wow, it’s already 8.10, so I really have to leave now!!
