Unit 1 Lesson 5: JOBS
A SATURDAY JOB
Maybe you still remember that Anna had a job at a clothes shop. It was a very fancy shop in which they sold expensive shirts and jeans, but also hats and scarves which were cheaper.
She had to clean the storage room and prepare lunch for the shop assistants and the manager because they were too busy to do that themselves. It seemed to be a nice job in the beginning but after a few weeks Anna didn’t like it anymore. The shop assistants were awful to her, they treated her badly. They were ungrateful and never talked to her. They always moaned about the healthy sandwiches which she prepared for them. They said they wanted pizza and things like that.

After three months Anna quit, she stayed longer than she wanted because she really needed the money for a smartphone. When she got the smartphone, she decided to stop working there. Now Anna is looking for another Saturday job. She doesn’t want to work in a shop anymore, maybe delivering newspapers? When she asked her parents if she could do that, they said no, because they didn’t want her to get up before 6 o’clock. But they told her to look for an afternoon job.

She quickly found a job delivering magazines and it earned more than the clothes shop. She asked David to help her because it was a job for two people. David was very glad that she asked him. He needed a job as well. So now they both have a good time while they are earning money .
