UNIT 2 LESSON 4: SPORT
MY BROTHER AND ME
Last summer I went to Wimbledon and I saw the best tennis match ever! My favourite player was playing my second favourite player and it was exciting until the last moment. Fortunately, my hero won the match! I took lots of photographs.

NOw you know I love tennis, but my brother hates it. He dislikes most sports except football. He wants to see all the matches, even if they are on the telly very late at night. Sometimes they start at eleven in the evening and they end at one o’clock in the night! My parents would never let me see a match that late, but because my dad is a football lover as well, Josh can watch too. It’s not really fair, is it?
The thing with my brother and me is that whatever he loves, I hate. And the other way around it’s the same. I love dancing shows, which he thinks are awful. He loves rugby and there’s nothing I hate more than that. I fancy quizzes on TV, while he wants to put it off as quickly as possible. Of course we start talking and then shouting until my mum or dad come between us and shut off the telivision because we fight.

But there’s one thing we like watching together and that’s extreme sports. Probably because we are both too scared to do those things ourselves. It is very exciting to watch people who are doing some sort of marathon. They start skydiving, then they have to climb a mountain. But that’s not all. When they are on top of the mountain they get on a mountain bike and they have to get down on that. It’s nearly impossible but they do it anyway.
We have seen something very exciting lately. It was something called street luge. I have never seen it before. It is an extreme sport too, which is really extremely dangerous. It’s like skate boarding, but the board is a little longer and the person isn’t standing, but lying on it on his back. In the picture you can see how they do this. Feet first, head last. They wear their regular clothes and a helmet. And then they go downhill. Really fast. And you know what? They only use their feet to stop. They are going downhill at 140 km per hour and the only brakes they have are their feet. I was so scared that I nearly wet my pants while I was watching them. My brother loved seeing this. He was laughing about it and said that these guys need a new pair of shoes every time they have gone down the hill.
I think this is about the only time that me and my brother spend time together and even like it.
