Conversation BACK OFF!!!

A: Did you hear about that boy who got bullied at school?

B: No. Do you know what happened?

A: Yes, I do! It is truly terrible! Are you sure that you want to hear the story?

B: I am! Give it to me!

A: Well, what happened is that a group of bullies started teasing a little boy. The older and bigger kids would take          his backpack and hide it in the toilets, put his picture up on various websites, steal his lunch money. You know,          basic stuff like that.

B: Sure……..

A: After a while, the kid got very annoyed and sad because of all this misery happening to him, as you can imagine.

B: Yeah, I can imagine that. So would I. Those sick freaks!

A: Anyway, this boy is thinking of ways to stop the bullying.

B: He should have gone to one of his teachers. They always try to help, don’t they?

A: I know, they do. But he didn’t feel like doing that for some reason. Instead, he came up with a plan of his own.

B: Is this going to be one of those stories where everything turns to needless violence? I am not very good with stuff     like that.

A: Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.

B: OK, then get to the point please. This is taking way too long.

A: The boy was very skilled at making websites, so he set up his own anti-bullying site. Students could create an           account and share tips on how to deal with bullies. Another thing people could do was sign up to be a Big Brother     / Big Sister. These are students that would keep an eye on the little kids who get picked on the most.

B: Sounds great! Did it work out well?

A: Yeah, it was a huge success. Within days, the boy had more than ten Big Brothers and Sisters helping him stand         up to his bullies, who soon gave up.

B: Wow, that’s wonderful. It has also given me an idea. Maybe those bullies should have a website too!

A: What do you mean? A place where they can discuss how to bully someone? That’s crazy!

B: No, I mean a site where they can express their feelings and apologies.

A: Hey, that’s not bad at all. Shall we work on that plan together?

B: Sure, let’s go home and then we’ll get started right away!
