LESSON 1 Looking for a Saturday job

John: Hello, John’s Jeans shop speaking.
Anna: Good morning, I am Anna, is this the manager speaking?
John: Yes, I am the manager. I am the owner of
this shop. How can I help you?
Anna: I am looking for a Saturday job. Have you
got a job for me?
John: How old are you Anna?
Anna: I am thirteen.
John: You can’t work in the shop, you are too young.
But you can help at the back of the shop. This is a very big
building. On Saturdays there aren’t any cleaners and nobody
has got time to clean the back. Nobody can make a good cup of
coffee on Saturdays. We are selling the things in the shop and
have only got little time for lunch.
Anna: I am just learning how to make a good cup of tea and coffee.
And my mother is teaching me how to prepare the best
sandwiches. With ham and cheese and tomatoes and healthy
bread.
John: That is very nice. Can you come to the shop for a job interview
now?
Anna: What time is it?
John: It’s a quarter past nine.
Anna: Sorry, I can’t come now. There isn’t enough time left before I
am going to school.
John: Can you be here at three o’clock this afternoon?
Anna: No, I’m sorry. I have got an appointment. I am going to the
dentist at a quarter past three, sorry.
John: Can you come at seven o’clock in the evening?
Anna: Yes, I can. Can I bring you anything?
John: Well, if you say you can prepare good sandwiches ……
