LESSON 4   ENGLISH AGAIN

Now, we are in the English classroom again! That's the second time today. Why? Well, it's because we are doing TTO, which is bilingual education. That is a difficult way to say that we have got most lessons in English. This year we have got many English lessons, 5 periods a week just English. 1 period of Drama in English, Biology, Arts, Maths, Geography and History also in English.

We already speak some English. Most Dutch people speak good English. Most films we see on TV are in English, with Dutch subtitles. Lots of games on the computer are in English too. And many songs are also in English.

In this lesson we are talking about the things that we can do. Mr. Green is asking us many questions:

"Can you swim, Melany?"

" Yes, of course I can swim, Mr Green! "

"Can you ride a bike Chris? ""

"Yes, I can Mr Green."

" Rebecca, do you think that Dave can play the guitar?"

" I don't know, Mr Green."

" So ask him please Rebecca."

"Okay, Dave, can you play the guitar?"

"No Rebecca, I can't play the guitar."

"Dion, can you play football?"

"Oh, yes, Mr Green, I can play football very well!"

"And David, what can you do?"

"I can fly a plane, sir."

"Are you sure he can fly a plane, Wendy?"

"No, Mr Green, I am not sure about that, but I am sure of another thing!"

"Tell me what you are sure about, please."

"I am sure that he can joke!"
