Too much chocolate
"They should have never left me alone with you," said Gemma. "That was a bad mistake."
Gemma was speaking to a bag of chocolate, which was under her sister’s bed. It was a blue bag, which was almost full. Gina had not eaten much of her Halloween candy but now she would never get the chance.

Halloween was three days ago. Gemma had dressed as Harry Potter. Her sister had gone as an elf. They walked up and down the streets of their neighbourhood. Every house they went to gave them candy. Some gave them lollipops and some gave them caramel. But Gemma’s favourite was chocolate.

Gemma loved chocolate. She liked milk chocolate as well as dark chocolate. She liked white chocolate and coffee-flavoured chocolate too. She liked chocolate drops, chocolate bars, chocolate oranges and chocolate eggs. She liked chocolate so much that, by the day after Halloween, she had no chocolate left.
Gina ate a lot more slowly. She saved her candy. She ate just one or two pieces at a time. Last year, she made her Halloween candy last all the way to Thanksgiving. That made Gemma mad. It was not fair that Gina could eat candy for weeks and weeks, and she had none left. That wouldn't happen this year, that was for sure!
Gina had a friend over. Gemma had been watching them and when they went to the garden to play, she sneaked up the stairs. She opened Gina’s door and crept over to her bed. And now she was going to eat her sister’s chocolate.
"You're all mine," she said, and laughed a sneaky laugh.
She unwrapped the first piece. It was a chocolate-covered cherry. She ate it.
"Mmmm," she said. "Mmmmmm."
The next piece was a chocolate egg with marshmallow goo inside. She bit into it, and some of the marshmallow got onto her chin. She ate the rest of it. "Marshmallow goo is the best," she said.
Next she ate a chocolate shaped like a flower. Then she ate a chocolate shaped like a bunny rabbit. She ate chocolates with nuts inside, and chocolates with pink fluff, and some chocolates that had nothing inside them at all. Finally, she was going to eat all the chocolate she wanted.

After a few minutes of eating, she heard footsteps on the stairs. She tried to get away, but her stomach was too full. Gina came into the room. She looked really mad.
"Hey!" she said. "What are you doing in my room? And what are you doing with my Halloween candy bag? Have you eaten my chocolate???"
Gemma tried to speak but she was too full. She stood up, but fell back down again.
"Oooooof," she groaned. Her face was covered with chocolate. Her hands were sticky. She even had chocolate in her hair. "I don't feel so good," she said. "I think I ate too much chocolate."
Gina started laughing. She laughed until she fell down too. "Well!" she said. "I think you learned your lesson!"
Gemma’s stomach felt like it was going to burst. She felt terrible. She would never steal Gina’s candy again.
